A winter wonderland, snow sparkling, dogs softly trotting ahead of you, the dogsleds runners gliding under you, the huskies breath in the crisp, clean air. By sharing our passion for sled dogs & the sport, we aim to give people a true feel & love for the sport of dogsledding and our wonderful dogs! Come meet us and let our beautiful & affectionate Siberian Husky sled dogs steal your heart and make outdoor adventure, romantic escape or family vacation memories to last a lifetime! We have over 100 registered purebred Siberian Huskies to love and cuddle with in
our kennel - the type of dog most people expect to see when they think of Canadian
dogsledding. We have black & whites, silvers, whites and reds. Some with
blue eyes, others with gold and brown and some with one of each. Needless to
say we have a good representation of the Siberian dogsled breed.
Our sled dogs are part of our family, and each a special love! As such we don't
sell puppies or dogs, when one comes to us they have a home & family for
life! All of our dogs have unique and wonderful personalities. If you are unfamiliar
with the breed, let us assure you there is no friendlier (or active) dog than
the Siberian, they absolutely LOVE people and attention. The only problem they
usually have is which one of them gets the most attention, especially lately
as a bunch of our dogs have made special appearances on City
TV's Breakfast Television, YTV's 2003 Canada Day special, a TV commercial for
Cox Communications & Irving Oil, and in Country Women Magazine & The Toronto Star Travel
Section. To meet any or all of our dogs, read their biographies or see any of
their media appearances, check out Our Huskies page. Or to read about the latest
happenings around here check out Dawson's Playground.
We started to dogsled 12 years ago in Guelph, Ontario, Canada as a hobby and
a chance to get out in the winter with our couple of huskies for recreation
while working in the Engineering & Millwrighting fields. Soon however, we
found ourselves totally addicted to the sport of dog sledding with the size
of our husky family growing steadily. We also found that many people had a great
interest in dogsledding, but no practical way to try it, so it wasn't long before
we were giving friends and relatives trail rides. As our love for the sport
grew we decided to make dogsledding a full time business, focusing on dogs with
jobs and relocated to the Haliburton Highlands, near Algonquin Park 7 years
ago, where snow conditions and dog sledding trails are excellent and more predictable.
As our business has grown so has our need for help! We have been extremely fortunate
to add some phenomenal individuals to our Winterdance team, who have also quickly
become members of our extended family! Click here to meet "Your Guides".
Our dogsled tours are run mainly on a large piece of private property (close
to 5000 acres) north of Haliburton Lake on the doorstep of Algonquin Park. This
is an unique opportunity to experience the solitude, remoteness and picturesque
beauty of a part of the Ontario that few people will ever see (click here to
read more about our trail system). If you are looking for a place to stay while
you are in Haliburton dogsledding with us, we have a newly renovated cozy 3
bedroom cottage retreat right down the road from our husky's kennel, which is
suitable for up to 6 people (pictured to the right). There are also many other wonderful
accommodation providers nearby with everything from cottages, resorts, couples
inns, B&B's and motels. Check out our local providers page for more info.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have about our tours or dogs. In the meantime we hope you enjoy your time on our website and look forward to meeting you soon!!
